Macky's Riverside Kitchen

Great place along the Mekong walkway and near the market. Friendly staff. Choice of Thai and Western dishes, with many available in a vegetarian version. I liked the yoghurt with muesli and fruit for breakfast.

Hello Macky's, I was passing through Nong Khai in November 2024 and I had the excellent idea of stopping at your restaurant. I found a warm and smiling welcome as well as very tasty and varied food, which will surely make me come back and stay a few days with you on my way to Laos. A pleasant, casual restaurant on the riverfront promenade, very popular with foreign visitors and residents of Nong Khai. Macky runs the place with her family members, and she is really professional about it. She is also warm and gracious; she and her family make you feel so welcome and at home. We’re vegetarian, and we really appreciated being able to get healthy vegetarian food here, in a city and region where meat reigns supreme.

I went to Macky's two times for dinner. I wouldn’t consider it cheap but the prices are reasonable and every dish I had (Isan/Thai food) was delicious and came in a good serving size even for western tourists. The staff was always attentive and polite. The second evening I got the chance to talk with the owner, who is a friendly lady with good English skills.Personally, I liked sitting outside with a nice view of the Mekong river. In the evenings it can get a little cold if it cools down and there is a little wind. You might want to bring something with long sleeves, especially if you’re sitting there for an extended period of time. Also, I would advise bringing some mosquito-repellent spray because, well… you’re next to water.When I was there, the shop next door always had someone sing to a questionable (regarding the pleasure of that musical experience) karaoke machine with their own guitar added to it. I’m sure they tried to the best of their ability. However, it was unfortunately too loud to just ignore it. It might be an added factor for your entertainment or something you might want to avoid. That’s up to you. Don’t let it keep you from going there yourself and miss out.I would visit Macky's again if I'm back in Nong Khai and recommend you have a taste yourself.

This place is a gem! The food was so Delicious and each plate was presented in such a beautiful way. The menu has a wonderful selection of local & American food with a wide variety of choices.We loved visiting with Macky, the owner, and Will for sure visit again. You will not be disappointed.

The Western food here is very good and fairly priced, especially given the prime location right beside the Mekong River.We particularly enjoyed the fish and chips, the mushroom and beef pie was also quite delicious.Note: the small Naga statue and Mekong signs are located about 100m east of Macky's restaurant
